Update 14.06.16

We've been pushing updates frequently recently. This is because there were some urgent Force Close issues for some users, so we wanted them to have the working app back again asap. Also, we decided to use a tactic of pushing new stuff almost immediately as it is ready. Let's see how it works.

Among the recent changes:

  • on today's action lists we now show the type of the action - simple, checklist, project
  • added notes full text search for Android 4.1+ users. For lower versions there are some incompatibilities in platforms, so had to not use same implementation. Later will add for them, too
  • we are moving away from the weekday idea - so 'Today/Tomorrow' in week day dialog now set the calendar dates, not the abstract week days
  • weekdays have been removed from the week day dialog - only Today, Tomorrow, Now!, and Calendar date left.

Other news - published the translation doc which is being now filled by those who know the language - many many thanks to them!

  1. You have a powerful ap that I use for a while but not as frequently as I'd like because to be more effective in daily use we should can change the daily actions order in the week plan by simple and fast and effective drag and drop. With that the app would be almost perfect and the number of downloads and users would explode. Thanks a lot

  2. The application is excellent but the application should have the "text search" function to bring the notes that contain it.

    1. What version of Android do you have? It has search for notes in Android 4.1 and above, for lower versions there are some issues adding the search. This is searching Notes only, not actions and goals and roles.

  3. Many thanks for your work on My Effectiveness Pro... your dedication to this project is evident throughout the app and much appreciated. I am a new user and still in the process of defining my roles, goals, and actions in order to set up the app for daily use. I've spent a nice amount of time reading through your posts here on the blog (your old post... How do I Use It, was particularly helpful), in addition to your help tutorial in the app. I am wondering if you might have any advice on strategic use of the app's My Roles segment? I find myself coming up with a plethora of roles for myself in order to house particular goals/actions and am not sure if I am being too detailed with this process. Should the My Roles segment be a long list of every possible role I might take on in life (no matter how silly it might sound lol) or is it better to maintain a generic list of roles and then attempt break them further down as goals? Is it beneficial to group related roles? Is the objective to have a concise list or a thorough list? I'm sure there is not one right way to do it, but just wondering what you have learned from experience. Thanks!

    1. I myself have around 10 roles. The last one has been added quite long ago. So, for me it appears I'm using a generic list of roles. For example, for my job I have only 1 role, let's say 'An X company employee'. All the goals related to my job then go under this role. In fact at my job I have different relationships with different people and tasks. And technically I might have used a separate role for each such relationship. But, from my point that's a big overkill - you'll spend more energy setting up the system and maintaining it may save you helping you be productive. Eventually you'll get tired and give up. And decide the whole planning wasn't worth it while what you actually needed was being a little less meticulous. But that's of course only my opinion, others may like to do it differently. Maybe it would best be to try either ways and see which one works best for you.

    2. Thanks so much for the advice and speedy reply! I really needed a reminder to keep focused on the main goal of productivity. You make a great point about the possibility of making a process too complex for myself which in turn might result in abandoning the system. I do think there are some roles that can be merged on my part, so I'll give that approach a try... I'm sure it would make things a little less overwhelming. Cheers :-).
